Phi Phi Omega Chapter History
Bettye Lewis Maye envisioned a chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. for North Fulton County, Georgia, and in 1997, she began exploring ways to make that vision a reality. By 1999, 30 women shared in that same vision and helped to form the Alpha Pearls interest group.
The Alpha Pearls were committed to community service. From 1999 to 2000, the group's activities included participating in the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation walk, initiating a read-a-thon for North Fulton County, and donating toiletries to the Atlanta Women and Children's Day Shelter.
On Friday, February 16, 2001, the Alpha Pearls interest group received its charter to operate as the Phi Phi Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.
